Filipino company petitions NBC to cancel show that is new a mail-order

Experts state ‘Mail Order Family’ makes light of human being trafficking.

Early in the day this week, NBC announced that they had purchased and had been developing a sitcom called Mail Order Family, which Deadline defines as a show that “follows a widowed father that is single orders a mail-order bride through the Philippines to greatly help raise their two preteen daughters.” Unsurprisingly, there was a petition calling for the show’s termination.

Mail purchase Family is made to some extent by Jackie Clarke, a writer-producer for Superstore, while the show is apparently according to Clarke’s household. But Gabriela United States Of America, a company fighting for the “liberation of all of the oppressed Filipino females,” say in its petition that the show will probably perpetuate harmful stereotypes, and makes light for the problem that is ongoing of trafficking within the Philippines.Read more
